Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) forces successfully repelled a coordinated Taliban assault against AFF defensive positions and strongholds in Zebak District, Badakhshan Province, on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
The engagement continued for approximately four hours. AFF forces maintained control of their defensive positions throughout the operation.
Following the failed Taliban assault, AFF units conducted coordinated counterattacks from multiple directions, employing both light and heavy weapons to engage withdrawing enemy elements.
Based on preliminary battlefield assessments, Taliban forces sustained five killed in action (KIA) and eleven wounded in action (WIA) before withdrawing from the area.
AFF forces sustained no casualties during the engagement, and all operational positions remain secure.
