Statement of the Afghanistan Freedom Front

The Taliban group, through the use of live ammunition and extreme violence, has brutally suppressed public gatherings and protests opposing the reckless, unlawful, and exploitative extraction of mineral resources by Taliban-affiliated contracting companies in the provinces of Takhar and Badakhshan. As a result of this savage crackdown, several protesting civilians have been killed and wounded. Simultaneously, in Nahrin District of Baghlan Province, Taliban forces committed a deeply offensive and inhumane act by desecrating the body of a fallen martyr of the National Resistance, in blatant violation of human dignity and moral principles.

At a time when the criminal Taliban Emirate is facing strong and meaningful public resistance against the laundering and plundering of the natural resources and wealth of northern Afghanistan—and when the scandals of these merchants of death have reached the point of public disgrace—the group’s bloodthirsty militias, by violently suppressing protesters and insulting the body of a fallen freedom fighter, have laid bare the height of their humiliation, moral collapse, total loss of legitimacy, and the failure of their usurping rule in the northern regions of the country.

The fighters of the Afghanistan Freedom Front consider the cowardly, inhumane, and barbaric act of firing upon the pure body of one of their comrades in Baghlan Province to be a clear manifestation of the Taliban militias’ weakness, desperation, and rage in the face of the growing wave of public awakening and the escalating dissatisfaction of the people with their illegitimate, authoritarian, and imposed rule in northern Afghanistan.

We regard bringing these criminals to justice for their heinous and abhorrent acts as our national, religious, and human duty. The mobilized militias and plunderers of our people’s material and moral wealth should prepare for a firm and decisive response; they will pay a heavy price for their crimes.

The honeymoon period of the cowardly and usurping Taliban militias and the merchants of death in northern Afghanistan has come to an end.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front extends its sincere condolences on the martyrdom of Commander Zafar and the victims of the recent protests in the northeastern region of the country to their honorable families, fellow freedom fighters, and the proud people of Afghanistan
